June 2009 DTV Transition
Effective June 12, 2009 broadcast television stations nationwide are required by law to switch from the old analog method of transmitting TV signals to a digital television (DTV) transmission.
Will I be affected by the change?
No. Your Cablevision service experience will not be affected by the DTV transition.
- Cablevision's Optimum Network is already digital.
iO TVT customers using a digital cable box or CableCARD will continue to enjoy brilliant digital picture and sound.
- Cablevision will continue to provide the analog signal of select channels.
Today and throughout the DTV Transition, Cablevision intends to maintain the analog signal of over-the-air broadcast channels and select other channels. As a result, customers who have their cable line connected directly to the back of a cable-ready analog television, will experience uninterrupted viewing of those channels on that TV.
Only those customers using an over-the-air antenna in combination with a older analog TV will be affected by the DTV broadcast transition change. If you are currently using an antenna with an analog TV, you will need to connect that TV to a cable line with Cablevision service. You can do this yourself or call us to have one of our technicians perform the work. Or, if you want to continue to use your antenna, you can obtain a digital-to-analog converter box* from a local consumer electronics store.

Note: These digital-to-analog converter boxes are being manufactured and sold expressly for the DTV broadcast transition and should never be connected to your cable service, as they are not designed for that purpose and could interfere with or significantly interrupt a your cable service.
