Tips for Success

Tips photo Engage your community

Remember you're not Going Green alone—your Go Green team/class should consider involving at least one representative of the following school members: parents, teachers, administrators, custodians, and students.

Set realistic, measurable goals

Students, teachers, parents and custodians and school administrators need to know what they are working toward and the course to get there.

One example - "By the end of this month our GO Green team/class will make sure every 5th grade classroom has a recycle bin for paper and plastic. By next month both the 3rd and 4th grade should have the same supplies."

Do your research

Identify the recycling coordinator, etc. in your community by contacting the local government or find out about relevant ordinances and laws regarding recycling, etc. and any resources that may be available to lend support to your efforts.
Partner with Village/City/Town/County Governments

Our local governments recognize the benefits of going green. They are often eager to partner with local schools.

They may be able to let you know about grant money, scholarships, or other ideas that can add to your success.
