Accreditation - the designation and criteria required to officially recognize ones affiliation with an organization. For example, a writer for a newspaper is accredited as a member of the media thereby gaining access to the pressroom and the games.
Alumni - former members of the New York Rangers hockey team
Boards - the wooden walls that surround an ice surface in an arena, often decorated with advertisements.
Color guard - the ceremonial escort for the flag
Concourse - the area surrounding the playing surface and the seating, where you will find food stands, gift shops, restrooms and other visitor amenities.
Crowd Pumps - tactics and activities, such as chants and music, used to engage the crowd and encourage them to cheer on their team.
Depth Chart - a listing of all available players for each position on a team. This listing not only includes current members of the team but also players in the teams minor league system.
Game night staff - individuals who are not full time employees of the Ranger organization but are interested in working in pro sports or are willing to work to get into games. They are generally young people who help with logistics and the coordination of events, fundraisers and more.
Media - designated people representing news organizations that cover games, events and news of the team.
Media guide - a publication providing detailed information about the team and its players.
Media notes - detailed information about a particular game, including background information on teams involved, players, statistics, logistical information for covering the event and more.
NHL - National Hockey League
Press Clips - a collection of news media that mention team activity, such as newspaper articles and television news broadcast transcripts.
Press release - an announcement providing information to the media about team activities, with the hope that the media will then in turn cover this information to make it known to the public.
Promotions - activities such as giveaways, contests and special deals designed to enhance the experience of the fans and attract them to the games.
Prospects - young players the organization has NHL rights to, players they traded for or drafted who are not yet playing at the NHL level but rather in lower level leagues in North America or other parts of the world.
Roster Card - a card printed for each game, which includes the most up-to-date roster for each team, used, primarily by the media, during the game to keep track of players as well as goals and assists. Roster cards are available in the pressroom prior to the game
Scoreboard - huge display devise that hangs in the middle of an arena. At MSG the scoreboard contains the section that tells the score, a television screen called Gardenvision and a light emitting diode or LED display called a matrix.
Scout - a person who looks for potential talent to recruit to a particular team or sport. A scout may observe players on other professional teams, minor league teams, college teams or even a high school team. Teams also use scouts to learn and assess the strengths and weaknesses of future opponents.
Vintage - an item that is characterized by excellence, maturity or appeal, a classic
Waivers - giving up the right to retain a player on a team, thereby making that player available to become a member of another team.
